Focus on Labour Exploitation (FLEX) works to end human trafficking for labour exploitation in the UK and worldwide. FLEX’s unique approach to the problem of human trafficking is focussed on the prevention of labour rights abuses, the protection of the human rights of trafficked persons and the promotion of best practice responses to trafficking for labour exploitation.
We are seeking a full-time Policy Manager for our London office. Above all, we are looking for someone who is dedicated to FLEX’s vision and approach, and who will bring new skills, ideas and experiences to FLEX’s work. The primary responsibilities of the role will be policy research and advocacy; communicating policy objectives; managing staff to work on key policy areas and fundraising. In particular, we are looking for someone with demonstrated ability to conduct high quality research, to translate such research into clear and compelling communications and policy advocacy outputs, and to cultivate media contacts and coverage for key policy messages. The Policy Manager will be involved in all aspects of FLEX’s project delivery, including planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting. The Policy Manager will also be involved in staff management, strategic planning, fundraising and donor relations.
We are looking for someone who is self-motivated and passionate about achieving change in the field of human trafficking. You will have experience in working at a senior level on policy issues relevant to human trafficking, including experience working with or within relevant European or international bodies. You will be able to think strategically, to identify opportunities, and to use evidence you have gathered to conduct effective policy advocacy. You will have a track record in developing relationships with media contacts and generating media content and coverage. You will have an understanding of UK, European and international law and policy frameworks relevant to human trafficking, labour rights, and migration. You will have solid project management experience, including experience in budget monitoring, staff management, fundraising and donor reporting.
